Even with great strides toward renewable sources, the demand for oil and gas will not go down soon. The number of oil and gas reserves is constantly skyrocketing in many corners of the globe. The fresh discoveries are due to innovations in geological analysis procedures. Many new oil wells are being drilled as the demand for well completion accessories is increasing.
Drilling an oil and gas well is not an easy task. Years pass from the initial planning and licensing to finally getting hydrocarbons out from the well. The steps are usually in the order of:
· Liner hanger: Liner hangers hold liners in place inside the well. These hangers attach liners to previously used casing strings in the well. Depending on the site of application and the specification of the drilled well, you can get liner hangers in various size options suited to the exact requirements. · Cement retainers: These are tools used to divide the sections of a well either temporarily or permanently, depending on the use case. They isolate the well below the region where the cement retainer is used. These sealing methods work when maintenance activities are happening in the well annulus. To work, the cement retainer is attached to the casing or liner in the well. · Bridge plugs: These are needed in the plug and abandonment phase of the oil and gas well, bridge plugs are used to seal up the good bore. It prevents hydrocarbons from escaping the well. Bridge plugs are customizable depending on the requirements of the project. The two types of bridge plugs are: permanent (used in plug and abandonment), or retrievable (Temporary). Retrievable bridge plugs are usually used to isolate the lower regions of the well for conducting maintenance in the upper regions. Bridge plugs prevent hydrocarbons from being released by accident. By using bridge plugs, we can avoid oil spills, and nearby contamination, preventing water pollution and ecosystem collapse near the drill.
